The Hebrew word “echad” can mean one, or it can mean one as in “united”; we are one people.

The first time in the Bible it was used when there was “evening and morning” one (echad) day.  Next, we see it when “husband and wife” were one (echad) flesh.

In Genesis 1:27 Elahym said that They are male and female (one Elahym) and not a plurality.  In Deuteronomy there is “The Name” verse, Deuteronomy 6:4:

“Hear, O Israel! The LORD is our God, the LORD is one!

Here is the verse in Hebrew:

6:4  שמע ישראל יהוה אלהינו יהוה אחד׃

And here is the word-for-word rendering:

Hear Yshrael Yehovah Elahym (our)  Yehovah one (echad):

Who is Yehovah (the LORD) one with?  Since He is the male half of Elahym, the female half of Elahym, Ruach Elohym is the other half of “one” (echad) in this verse. It is inferred.
